Seem to relish collecting ideas rather than actually making anything, trying to enjoy the imagining for it’s own sake, rather than letting myself feel deflated for never actually making it to the kitchen table to craft anything personally. Taking more of a internet-basd curatorial role rather than a participatory, real-world one. Feel like a bit of a magpie. Anyway, I love garlands and bunting of all kinds - especially this one. I could make one (here I go again) with sepia photos of my family….  

Just learning. Starting, stopping, graceful dismounts = down pat. One-arm ‘turning’ indication, curbs, speed-humps = working on it. Everything else = hope to get a handle on by next week. Looking forward to my first summer of bike-riding memories.

Best bread recipe I’ve found. To be honest, I found this one first and just stopped looking. I get the dough set up before bed (takes less time than brushing your teeth) and whack it in the oven sometime before lunch the next day. Tastes amazing hot with butter. I have some in at the moment that’ll be ready to take to dinner tonight. I’d feel like I was a show-off if it required ANY technical skill, but it’s so simple I can’t even feel smug. Though it is nice to know I never need to buy bread again - supermarket bread is gross and artisan bread (while totally divine) is only really replicating home-made anyway. I’ll be experimenting more over the holidays, lapsing intermittently into carb-comas. 

Ben showed me some Catherine Tate clips tonight… at some point I’ll have to stop, but here’s why I’m still on youtube way past bedtime…

Corrugated iron is distinctly Australian. My dad is a roofer so I have my own special memories associated with wavy metal, mostly to do with being bored and playing with tools while sitting in the passenger side of the ute cabin, and killing time around building sites, getting covered in dust and making cubbies out of Colourbond while he did quotes on jobs. Nowadays I love it for the sound it makes on our roof when it rains. Here’s some I found in the alleyway around the block from our place, fashioned into a fence.
